Exemptions from £35.50 Connection Fee

Connection and set up fee is not applicable if you are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Employers Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Support
  • Universal Credit

Discharged from Hospital?

If you are being discharged from hospital you will receive Careline for 6 weeks free of charge. Please ask your hospital to refer you when you are discharged. The installation fee is waived if you are on any of the following: Income Support, Pension Credit, Employment Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Universal Credit.

Smart hub

Introducing the new Smart Hub

For only £5.80+VAT per week the new Smart Hub Careline Unit works for customers without a landline. Using future proof smart technology you will be connected to our call centre at the touch of a button. To find out more call us on 01935 479815 or email careline@southsomerset.gov.uk 

Digital Shift

BT announced in 2017 that they would be moving their analogue telephone lines to a faster digital system, which means that after 2025 you will no longer have an option to plug your landline into a socket on the wall but it will instead be plugged into a Wi-Fi router.

This change affects everyone with an existing phone line including Careline customers and the transition to the new digital system is planned to be completed by 2025. Please do not worry about this change as your telephone provider will contact you when work is to begin in your area.
